Hire our artists to prepare your patterns before weaving using the “String Art DIY” app for highest quality

Using the “String Art DIY” mobile app and like to weave the thread art of your own custom photo (not using the app’s pattern library)? If yes, you can hire our artists (inside of the app) to prepare your string art pattern for you. They will enhance your photo by putting a few hours of work into your photo to prepare it (for best weaving results and highest quality) before the app’s algorithm starts to digitize it.

What is a String Art?

string Art (Thread Art) is an artwork that gives birth to a portrait, logo, personalized art, etc. It can live on canvas, wall, billboard, or ground! It is embraced with a number of equally spaced nails (or something else that can act as nails). It is a single string (thread, or even rope) that runs continuously from one nail to another.

When you look at a string art closely, you see almost nothing! But when you take some steps back, and take a look at the artwork as a whole from a distance, you will see that it is presenting something! It can be a logo, icon, or a more realistic illustration, such as your own happy face 😀

Now do you need our artists’ service or not?

Short answer: Yes, ONLY IF you want to weave a custom photo of yours by using the “String Art DIY” app! No, IF you’re using the app’s pattern library to weave a pattern that already exists.

Long answer: Well, the “String Art DIY” app, has the option that lets you upload your photo directly into the app (Your photo can be a portrait image of yourself, a landscape, a logo, an illustration, or a photo from your pet)! It will read up your photo’s data, generates its digital string art version,  and shows you how the final string art looks like when you complete weaving it! But when you look at the final results in the app, it may not look satisfying! And that’s normal… Most of the photos won’t give you satisfying results… It’s because robots cannot simply understand what are the most important parts in an image, and what parts should be ignored! That’s exactly when this service is needed! Our experienced artists, put a few hours of work into your photo to prepare it (for best weaving results and highest quality). We use photo editing software (such as Photoshop) to edit your photo by hand! According to what is important in an image, the photo editing progress differs. e.g., in a portrait photo we need bold eyes and strong shadows that separate nose from other parts of the face! Many other details need to be worked on, and all of these steps take time and efforts.

What do we provide at the end?

After our artists finish editing your photo, finally we will provide you a pattern ID (and a pattern ID QR Code), so that you can import it into the app! Here’s the process that is going to happen:

  1. You hire our artists for the “DIY Custom Zigzag Preparing” service inside of the “String Art DIY” app.
  2. After your request is submitted, we will get back to you (max 2 working days) to notify you if your submitted photo is appropriate based on the String Art Standards.
  3. When we contact you regarding your submitted photo:
    a. If your photo is not approved by our team: We provide you guidelines on how to send a better photo.
    b. If your photo is approved by our team: Well, we will provide you a pattern ID (and a pattern ID QR Code).

Sizes & shapes?

You can weave your artwork (zigzag) anywhere! On a canvas, wall, or land! It doesn’t matter in what dimensions you’re going to weave your artwork. So by size, we mean the number of nails (or something else that can act as nails) that are needed to produce the artwork! So basically you can weave in 3 sizes and in 5 shapes.

  • Available Art Shapes: CircleHexagonalOctagonalVertical/Horizontal RectangleFoursquare
  • Available Sizes: Large-sized (~380 nails needed)Medium-sized (~240 nails needed)Small-sized (~180 nails needed)

So as an example if you like to weave a 4 m2 thread art in square shape on a wall in your office, you can request “Large-sized” size and “Foursquare” Art Shape. Our artists start working on your photo, and when they are done, we will provide you the final pattern ID! You will import the pattern ID into the “String Art DIY” app, and see that the app generates the digital string art version of your photo! Now, before starting to weave, you need to hammer the nails into the wall, right? So in order to have a 4 m2 string art, you can put ~2.1 cm space between each nail!

Tip! Large-sized patterns are suitable for artworks larger than 70×70 cm, Medium-sized patterns are suitable for artworks between 70×70 cm & 30×30 cm, and Small-sized patterns are suitable for artworks smaller than 30×30 cm.

how you do it?

  1. You prepare the needed tools (such as nails, string, and canvas) and download the app.
  2. Import your pattern (the pattern ID that we provide you) into the app and let the app render it  with its smart dedicated algorithm (Digital Phase)
  3. Now listen to the app and start weaving as the app reads up the step by step weaving progress (Handmade Phase)
